The legendary Speedmaster from Omega, a stainless steel automatic chronograph prototype wristwatch, showing day and date, manufactured in 1974.

During the 1970s, Omega was busy creating the one and only Speedmaster while celebrating the Apollo program. The watch employs a tonneau-shaped stainless steel case and is powered by the famous Lemania 5100 based Omega caliber 1045 movement.

Available at auction from Christie’s, this timepiece is extremely rare, but the Ref. 11001, which shows the most wear due to harsh testing by both Omega and the Swiss Institute is the one from two known examples of a post-NASA test result watch.
